It's one of those no-brainers: Everton playing a pre-season friendly in the land of Becks, bratwurst and some beautiful scenery. I'm in.
I'm now writing this over a year since the trip so I'm not going to recount in great detail about what happened; I'll let the pictures below tell the story but in summary:
- Flew out with Mat and met the usual suspects out in Bremen (Phil, Jon, Mark, Tony etc)
- Stayed in a friendly little hostel just off the main drag between the old town and the stadium
- Spent the day before the match checking out the old town, including the winding streets of the Schloss area, and having some of the locally-brewed Becks in the beer gardens down by the river
- Got splashed with water by an overly-aggressive tap on the way to the match, meaning ridicule from my mates who thought I'd pissed myself
- Watched a fairly turgid game. Lost 1-0.
- Had a big night out and ended up in a club that was permanently engulfed in dry ice
- Spent the following day on a moored boat sampling a few final Becks before flying home
